Summer on the Palouse

This is my favorite time of year on the Palouse. The wheat isn't quite ripe yet but the colors are amazing. It looks like a contour map with the wheat ripening on the top of the hills and still green in the valleys.

One of our fabulous cotton candy sunsets.

Working Away.

Today we dug out this rotten tree stump. After the stump was gone you could see right down where the roots used to be.This is looking down one of the roots. The bark of the tree is still around the outsides but the middle is completely rotted away.

My summer help hard at work.

New Project!

Over the 4th we were at Grandma and Grandpa's and came across this chest. With a little cleaning, sanding, and oiling it should clean right up.

The latches on the front are probably my favorite part. All the metal is authentic and the clasps all still work.

The handles on the ends are leather. One of them is in really good shape, the other one needs some help. There are little wheels on the bottom too. One of the wheels are broken though.

Cave of the Mounds

Memorial Day weekend most of my Mom's family were in Mount Horeb for Auntie Arlene's b-day. Visiting the Cave of the Mounds was an awesome experience and the pictures turned out rather amazing.

This waterfall is actually made of rock but with the water running across the top.

This cavern is actually not even big enough to fit into!!

Suzanne's Bridal Party

There is a very cool hat shop in Leavenworth. They have pretty much any hat you could imagine. Cassi, Lindsey, Tami, and Nicole look pretty stunning in their hats.
Lindsey's shark attack takes the cake, however.

We were in Leavenworth for the big Mayfest celebration. This is a may pole and just one design that they did. I was pretty amazing watching the pattern emerge while they danced. Then they would turn around and the pattern would come undone. They would change dances and a new pattern would be made.

This was an interesting game. Twister on Suzanne's pants. Whomever was near the belt won unfortunately.

Misc.

We were at Grant and Kelley's at Christmas and the guys decided to see whose belly was closest in size to Kelley's. I believe Grant won.

Welcome

I've decided to join the blog revolution so this next year you can find snippets of what Rob and I are up to. We will be living together so he doesn't really have a choice but to be included.
