Its has been a
long time since the last post. Summer has ended and school has begun and all my time has disappeared and now its the end of October. Anyway, last week I was in Seattle for four days to look at built projects around the city. Here are a few pictures to share. We stopped at the Cedar River watershed education center first. It is a really fun place for kids.
These are drums that are arranged in a circle and water drops fall at timed intervals so different songs play.
This is freeway park which is built over top of I-5 in order to connect residential downtown with financial downtown. This small corner of the park just looks like a ridged feature with some small waterfalls but when you get closer you can actually climb down about 30-40 feet. Notice the small waterfall in the middle of the picture.
Same waterfall just close up. It was so loud down in here that you couldn't hear yourself talk.
There are stairs and overlooks throughout the feature. The next picture is taken from where the girl in blue is standing.
Behind this waterfall and grate is I-5. You can watch cars go through but I missed it the first time through because you can't hear the traffic.
On Friday we went over to Bainbridge Island to the Bloedel Reserve. The whole reserve was pretty amazing with planned views and perfectly placed flowering trees. This picture is of the meadow and storage barns.
A japanese maple marks a path down to the creek.
The lake was completely still so the reflections are amazing. The whole place was pretty quiet, it was like an English painting or manor.
Down in the forest there were massive stumps that were logged decades ago and now seedlings have sprouted and grown into trees.
This is a fountain, the International Fountain I think, at the Seattle Center that is timed with music. We sat and watched this thing for half an hour and still didn't see all the different types of sprays.
We've gotten about 3 feet of snow and its still coming down! These are some pictures I took last Saturday up at Scott and Shelli's. It was a beautiful day and the last one for a while apparently because it has snowed at least 2 in every day since.
The Grinch left his Christmas tree.
My friend the owl is still around. He follows me up and down the driveway and all around the house when out walking. Last year there were two but I've only seen one this year.

Today we dug out this rotten tree stump. After the stump was gone you could see right down where the roots used to be.
This is looking down one of the roots. The bark of the tree is still around the outsides but the middle is completely rotted away.

Over the 4th we were at Grandma and Grandpa's and came across this chest. With a little cleaning, sanding, and oiling it should clean right up.
The latches on the front are probably my favorite part. All the metal is authentic and the clasps all still work.
The handles on the ends are leather. One of them is in really good shape, the other one needs some help. There are little wheels on the bottom too. One of the wheels are broken though.
Memorial Day weekend most of my Mom's family were in Mount Horeb for Auntie Arlene's b-day. Visiting the Cave of the Mounds was an awesome experience and the pictures turned out rather amazing.
